Day trip to Jerash, the site of ancient Gerasa, a Greek city that reached its apogee under the Roman occupation, was abandoned around the 12th century and remained hidden under the sand for several centuries before being rediscovered, allowing its ruins to be miraculously preserved. Beautifully restored, these make Jerash the most spectacular Greco-Roman site in Jordan and one of the best preserved in the world. You will then drive to Ajloun, the village where the castle of Qala'at er Rabadh stands. Enjoy the superb view of the Jordan Valley from the top of the fortress.

Ajlun Castle dominated the three main access routes to the Jordan Valley and protected the trade routes linking Jordan, Palestine and Syria. It became an important link in the chain of defence against the Crusaders, who for decades tried in vain to capture the castle and the nearby village.

Madaba – Mount Nebo

Transfer to visit Madaba. The city of mosaics, both in churches and in houses, their highly technical nature and artistic value, prove that this Byzantine bishopric. Their art reached its apogee in the 5th and 6th centuries. At the Church of St George in Madaba, you will visit the "map of Palestine" unearthed in 1898 when the church was being built. This mosaic, dating from the middle of the 6th century and barely altered, traces the geography of the Byzantine Near East. It originally measured 25 m by 5 m and was made up of two million tesserae. You will then visit Mount Nebo, 10 km north-west of Madaba. It became a place of universal pilgrimage from the beginning of the Christian era

Guided walk of 3 to 4 hours to discover the Dana Nature Reserve, which covers some 308 km2. It comprises a chain of valleys and mountains stretching from the top of the Rift Valley to the desert plains of Wadi Araba, with a vertical drop of over 1,600 metres. Encompassing two major geographical zones, and four distinct vegetation zones, it contains a remarkable diversity of landscapes, ranging from high wooded plateaux to rocky gravel slopes, plains and sand dunes. You'll see some remarkable flora and fauna.

Continue south to visit the ruins of the former glory of the Crusaders, the fortress of Shobak. Once known as "Mount Real", Shobak was built by Baldwin I, King of Jerusalem, in 1115. We then visit "Little Petra" and the Siq el-Bared site, which served as a caravanserai and trading centre for the Nabataeans.

You will cross the Siq, a long, narrow fault caused by a prehistoric earthquake. At the end of the Siq, the most majestic monument in Petra, "Al Khazneh" or the "Treasure", with its Greco-Roman decoration, suddenly appears. What a dazzlingly beautiful sight... Beyond the Treasury, there are hundreds of sculpted buildings, temples, royal tombs, houses, burial chambers, banqueting halls, baths, monumental staircases, arched doorways, cobbled streets and, above all, the Roman Theatre with its 3,000 seats. You will cross the Roman Cardo and visit the Qasr El Bint, the only temple still standing and in a good state of conservation. Overnight at the hotel
